The Public Housing Assistance program provides decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to high-rise apartments for elderly families. Public Housing tenants are required to pay 30 percent of their income for rent.
To be income eligible a family’s income must not exceed 50 percent of the area median income limit.
All prospective tenants must have good rental references. Criminal and credit history will be checked. Proof of citizenship or eligible immigration status is required to receive assistance.
